As the gales sweep across Britain's winter wakening landscape 2012 promises to be a year of dynamic hopes and dreams.
At the start of every new year, I like to hold a seed thought to explore and spur me to action. This year, inspired by Miliande Demitriou's Art Journal pages and Goddess Leonie's Goddess Guidebook, I was intrigued to work with "2012 - What seed are you?" and my "2012 word of the year"
This year, my seed is a cornflower - a wispy, intricate feather of a seed, tiny but determined. It can grow in the stoniest soil, happily coexisting with the other crops growing in the cornfields, tightly but harmoniously packed together with the oats, barley and rye. It promises to ennliven the practical golds and browns with the vivid royal blue of peace and truth. For me, the cornflower represents community - everyone finding their own place and form of expression within the wholeness, living and working together. The bright blue represents harmony, beauty, integrity, communication, clarity and hope. It reflects the pure, clear skies above: the colour of the heavens planted firmly in the earth.
My word for the year is ... poised. Because the word encapsulates stillness and yet is charged with potential action. It is the perfection of the moment, the place where the deepest healing or inspiration becomes apparent, the chalice that holds the truth with unconditional acceptance, the space of grace where the past falls away and new life unfolds. It implies the success of an action already taken, ad the promise of one yet to come - elegantly containing the all and the nothing in perfect expression right now How will this word influence my year as it unfolds and I hold my life poised....?
